25　Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.​

Now there stood by the cross of Jesus
그 때 그곳 예수님의 십자가 옆에 서있었어요

his mother,
그 분의 어머니와

and his mother's syster,
이모와

Mary the wife of Cleophas,
글로바의 아내 마리아와

and Mary Magdalene.
막달라 마리아였지요.

<개역한글> 예수의 십자가 곁에는 그 모친과 이모와 글로바의 아내 마리아와 막달라 마리아가 섰는지라

26　When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!​

When Jesus therefore saw his mother,
그러므로 예수님께서 그의 어머니를 보셨을 때

and the desciple standing by,
그리고 옆에 서 있는 그 제자를 (보시고)

whom he loved,
누구냐면 그가 사랑하셨던 (제자 말이지요 )

he saith unto his mother,
그는 그의 어머니에게 말씀하셨어요

Woman,
"여인이시여,

behold thy son!
(옆에 있는) 당신의 아들을 바라보십시오"

<개역한글> 예수께서 그 모친과 사랑하시는 제자가 곁에 섰는 것을 보시고 그 모친께 말씀하시되 여자여 보소서 아들이니이다.

예수님께서는 찢어지는 어머니의 마음을 아시고 그에 사랑하는 제자에게 부탁하시지요. 먼저 어머니에게 말합니다.

"보세요, 지금부터 나의 사랑했던 그 제자가 아들이 되어 줄 것입니다"
