37　Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.​

Pilate therefore said unto him,
그러므로 빌라도가 그에게 말했어요

Are thou a king then?
"그러니까 당신이 왕이라고?"

Jesus answered,
예수님께서 대답하셨어요

Thou sayest that I am a king.
"네가 말한 것처럼 나는 왕이다

To this end was I born,
이 일을 끝내려고 나는 태어났다,

and for this cause
그리고 이 때문에

came I into the world,
나는 이 세상에 왔다,

that I should witness unto the truth.
그것은 내가 진리를 증거해야만 하는 것이다

Every one that is of the truth
진리와 연관된 모든 이들은

hearth my voice.
나의 음성을 듣는다.

<개역한글> 빌라도가 가로되 그럼 네가 왕이 아니냐 예수께서 대답하시되 네 말과 같이 내가 왕이니라 내가 이를 위하여 났으며 이를 위하여 세상에 왔나니 곧 진리에 대하여 증거하려 함이로라 무릇 진리에 속한 자는 내 소리를 듣느니라 하신대

38　Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.​

Pilate said unto him,
빌라도가 그에게 말했어요

What is truth?
"진리가 무엇인가?"

And when he had said this,
그리고 그가 이 말을 하였을 때

he went out again unto the Jews,
그는 유대인들을 향해 다시 밖으로 나갔어요

and saith unto them,
그리고 그들에게 말했어요

I find in him no fault at all.
"나는 그에게서 전혀 아무런 잘못도 찾을 수 없다"

<개역한글> 빌라도가 가로되 진리가 무엇이냐 하더라 이 말을 하고 다시 유대인들에게 나가서 이르되 나는 그에게서 이무 죄도 찾지 못하노라

​39　But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover： will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?​

But ye have a custom,
"너희들에게 한 관습이 있으니,

that I should release
그것은 내가 놓아주는 것이다

unto you one
너희에게 한 사람을

at the passover :
유월절에 말이다

will ye therefore
그러므로 너희는 원하는가?

that I release unto you
내가 너희에게 풀어주는 것을

the king of Jews?
유대인의 왕을 말이다"

<개역한글> 유월절이면 내가 너희에게 한 사람을 놓아주는 전례가 있으니 그러면 너희는 내가 유대인의 왕을 너희에게 놓아 주기를 원하느냐 하니

40　Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

Then cried they all again,
그러자 그들 모두는 다시 외쳤어요

saying,
말하기를

Not this man,
"이 사람이 아니다,

but Barabbas,
도리어 바라바다"

Now Barabbas was a robber.
그 때 바라바는 도둑이었어요.
